• Wood fired terracotta

  April 27 - May 3, (30 hrs).

  Will explore local materials, getting inspiration from nature. Using slab and coil techniques, pit firings.

• Raku

  May 8 - May 10, (15 hrs).

  Instructor: Enzo Tilia

  During the first 2 days we will make our pieces, using clay and glazes and making our own recipes. Last day is raku firings.

• Colors of Umbrian clays

  May 22 - May 24, (15 hrs).

  The colors of clay, techniques and approach to the wheel, using various local clays.

• Playing with clay and fire

  May 29 - June 2, (25 hrs).

  Instructor: Max Petrini

  Techniques in Etruscan design. A trip into the world of Bucchero, with Max Petrini, last day raku with Enzo Tillia.

• Totems and figures

  June 5 - June 7, (15 hrs).

  Instructor: Estelle Tieman

  The beginning of a journey into figurative totems, using the techniques of slab and coils.

• Volumes and Space

  June 12 - June 14, (15 hrs).

  Instructor: Estelle Tieman

  Exploring volume and space, by creating boxes, houses.

• Form and figure

  June 19 - June 21, (15 hrs).

  Instructor: Estelle Tieman

  Sculpture, form and figure, using slabs and coils.

• Raku: special glazes

  June 26 - June 28, (15 hrs).

  Instructor: Enzo Tilia

  Enzo Tillia teaches with special glazes for a piece to be raku.

• Playing with clay

  July 13 - July 17, (20 hrs).

  Instructor: Paola Biancalana Where: Allerona (Estelle's garden)

  (Just for kids) A delightful week of playing with clay, in a wonderful garden in Allerona: Estelle's garden (9 am to 1 p.m. for 5 days. 6 children min. 10 max. cost: 60€).

• Mosaics

  July 17 - July 19, (15 hrs).

  Instructor: Estelle Tieman Where: Allerona (Estelle's lab)

  Making Mosaics with Estelle Tieman, in a garden in Allerona / Bring a clay pot, or frame, tray, or anything you would like to turn into a mosaic masterpiece.

• Wood fired terracotta

  August 3 - August 8, (30 hrs).

  Sculpture, tiles, and house-hold objects, creating pieces using slips, underglaze decorations. Experimental firings.

• Ceramics in the Etruscan tradition

  September 20 - October 3, (30+30 hrs).

Reservation

Unless otherwise specified, classes will run from 10 a.m to 1 p.m., break for lunch (bring sandwiches, beverages will be provided). Classes will resume at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: 10 euro per hour, which includes materials and firings, there will be free time to work in the studios until dark, studios must be left clean.

50% deposit must accompany the reservation, balance to be paid upon arrival at first class. (if class does not reach 4 or more students, class will be canceled, and deposit returned).
